“With Kearney, you get the best of both worlds—we have the scale to engage in major transformational engagements but are small enough that every client and every employee really matters. If we say we are going to deliver something, we will.”
Michael Thomas started his career in public relations. But after just one project in healthcare, he was hooked. “I love this industry because it is about making a real difference for people and getting them access to the care they deserve.”
During his 20+ years in consulting, Michael has influenced changes in the healthcare environment across several geographies, working with governments, providers, and manufacturers to design policy and regulations. He has also helped many clients adapt their business models to those changes. He is currently supporting the transformation of a national healthcare system, which he describes as “the opportunity and challenge of a lifetime.”
Michael is motivated by tackling problems that do not have obvious answers. His interests include how the healthcare, consumer, and digital sectors are combining to build new patient-centered models of care. “I get to work with really smart colleagues and clients every day, which is hugely stimulating. The Kearney approach works really well. We are joined at the hip with our clients, working as one team—totally committed to their success.”
Working in a diverse and respectful culture is also important. “A lot of organizations talk about diversity, but here we are genuinely open and accepting of people from all walks of life, and making it happen. In the Middle East our team is made up of more than 50 nationalities, and I am lucky to count many of my colleagues as genuine friends. I am proud of the gender diversity we have brought to consulting teams, to our clients, and to our operations.”
